A series of significant developments unfolded today in Israel and Gaza, with both sides carrying out major prisoner and hostage releases as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Israeli officials confirmed that all 20 hostages believed to be alive have now been freed. The hostages were released in two stages — seven earlier in the morning and 13 later in the day. Authorities said the remains of deceased hostages have yet to be handed over to Israel at this stage.
Meanwhile, more than 1,700 detainees from Gaza and 250 Palestinian prisoners are also scheduled for release. Reports from Ofer Prison in Israel indicated the movement of vans believed to be transporting the freed prisoners, while hospitals in Gaza prepared to receive returning detainees.
In a separate development, U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Jerusalem, where he is set to address the Israeli parliament. Trump is also expected to meet with families of the freed hostages during his visit.
