‘Angry Andy’ wins Wellington mayoral race

Andrew Little news

Andrew ‘Angry Andy’ Little has swept to victory in the Wellington mayoral election, securing a decisive mandate to lead the capital.

Provisional results released by Wellington City Council show Little receiving 34,240 votes, far ahead of his nearest rivals — Karl Tiefenbacher with 8,807 votes and Ray Chung with 6,838 — with around 85 percent of ballots counted.

Little said he was “thrilled, excited and somewhat daunted” by the outcome, describing it as a privilege to have won the confidence of Wellingtonians. “I know there are big challenges, but I feel very privileged and honoured,” he said. “People have seen in me a person with a set of skills and a track record of leadership.”

He added that he expected the newly elected council to “work together to get stuff done” and that it was time for Wellington to “turn a page and face the future with confidence again.”

Alongside the mayoral result, voters also chose to retain the Te Whanganui-a-Tara Māori Ward, with 38,125 votes in favour and 19,622 against. The result means the ward will remain in place for the 2028 and 2031 local elections.

Outgoing mayor Tory Whanau, who did not seek re-election for the top job but ran for a seat in the Māori ward, confirmed she had missed out. “It would have been an absolute honour but democracy has spoken,” she wrote on social media, congratulating successful candidate Matt Pōneke. “He will be an amazing councillor and serve our people well.”

  1. If you are not part of societies governance – YOU are a slave. Communists don’t want you to vote! Think about it! Anyone that tells you not to vote is collaborating with the ENEMY.

…just as we saw in the U.S. circa 2020 when Trump was cheated out of the U.S. Presidency…

Some folks quit voting knowing that the system is corrupt. Others know that in some instances that voting politically profiles a person. This is especially true with Digital I.D., Facial Recognition at the Polling Places, and Ballot Numbers cross-referenced to Voter Registration I.D’s.

    WCC Current debt

At the end of the 2023 financial year, Wellington City Council’s gross debt was reported at NZ$1.25 billion.

The Wellington Chamber of Commerce notes the council’s Long-Term Plan projects debt rising to NZ$2.6 billion by 2033/34.

S&P anticipates that Wellington’s tax-supported debt will reach 234 % of operating revenues by 2025 under its base case scenario.

    My thoughts.

IF YOU OWN PROPERTY IN WELLINGTON – YOU WILL BE TAXED TO RUIN.
IF YOU RENT IN WELLINGTON, YOUR RENT WILL INCREASE.
IF YOU HAVE A RENTAL IN WELLINGTON, YOU HAVE A LIABILITY, NOT AN ASSET.

The only way out of this is to stop all spending except the basics.

      • Worse than bankrupt Tauranga Hamilton and Wellington all owe money to International Banks. If and when heaven forbid the Councils start defaulting on their loans and cant squeeze anymore out of ratepayers those International Central Banks are going to come looking for collateral. As in your house. Its all a managed decline when later down the track they raise the rates on those loans. Most Elections in NZ the candidates have already been chosen. Election day is just a formality in the pretense that and election has been held. You will own nothing and rest assured you be very very unhappy.

    • Remember when a New Zealand Citizen filed a complaint via the NZ Police against the Covid vaccine supporters in government, charging that they had committed crimes against humanity?
      https://fyi.org.nz/request/15096-legal-status-in-new-zealand-of-the-nuremburg-code
That story has been buried, and the outcome unknown.
Then we have that the Nuremburg Code does not apply in New Zealand or in other nations…
How can this be when New Zealand is a U.N. Member, when the U.N. supports the Nuremburg Code and the definitions of ‘Crimes Against Humanity’???

  3. I’m back here for a stink, currently call QLD home. Man, the city is a total sicko who has just be hammered by ideological morons. And they vote Little ….another failure of a governor.
