Appeal for information following Gisborne assault

Gisborne Police are appealing to the public for information following an assault overnight.

At around 2am, Police were called to Peel Street after receiving reports a man had been knocked unconscious.

He was transported to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Police have taken an 18-year-old man into custody in relation to this incident and he is assisting with our enquiries.

“As part of those enquiries, we’d like to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident.

“We understand a number of people were present at the time of the assault who may also have video footage.



“If you have any information, or footage that could assist Police, please contact us via 105, either over the phone or online at 105.police.govt.nz, referencing file number 260919/1079.”

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
