Arrest made following Dunedin fire

Dunedin Police have today charged a 57-year-old man in relation to a fire at a vacant boarding house on Phillip Street on Friday, 27 October.

The man was charged with arson and is due to appear in Dunedin District Court today, 1 November.

‘Thankfully, no-one was injured in the fire, however several adjacent properties were damaged,’ said Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Hanna.

‘The quick response and containment by Fire and Emergency New Zealand prevented more damage to surrounding properties.

‘Police would like to thank members of public who assisted staff with the investigation.’
