Australian MP critically injured in deliberate attack

Independent Australian MP Helen Haines is fighting for her life in a Melbourne hospital after being struck by a vehicle outside her electorate office in Wangaratta, regional Victoria.

The 65-year-old politician was airlifted to The Alfred hospital following Monday afternoon’s incident, which Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described as a deliberate attack rather than an accident.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man from Tarrawingee and reportedly discovered a knife inside the vehicle.

A joint investigation involving Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police and ASIO is underway, with counterterrorism authorities examining the circumstances and possible motive. Local residents were praised for intervening and detaining the suspect before police arrived.

Political leaders across Australia condemned the violence, amid growing concerns about threats against public officials. Ms Haines’s family thanked emergency responders and members of the public for their assistance while requesting privacy as she receives critical medical treatment.

  1. Not condoning this attack in anyway I would say they are going to become more prevalent as these fake crisis actor politicians in their blatant obvious dereliction of duty are called out and held to account for their gross misconduct and traitorous treasonous behavior
    And NZ is no exception
The age of Sanhedrin Judaistic organized uni party politics (Revelation 13:1) that controls both sides no matter who is in power changed around every so often so as to maintain the illusion of democracy and that your vote counts with fine tuning afforded through minor fringe party affiliates who gravitate to the main body is rapidly deteriorating collapsing and coming to an end
    Things are heating up
    Nowhere to run
    No where to hide
    Watch the cockroaches scatter
    Nothing pervades light

    • My phone’s robot says:

“Independent federal MP Helen Haines strongly supports climate action, the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and net-zero goals, while insisting that regional and rural communities must be at the center of the transition”.

So I’m guessing that the ‘white Land Rover’ was driven by a farmer who is fed up with having greenie eco-bullshit pushed down his throat.

Like you Gus, I’m not condoning violence in any way. Just postulating a possible connection.

        • Actually sounds like he was a pro Palestine greenie nut job. Not quite the far right extremist violence you’ve been conditioned by the media to presume.

…I wonder, if it was a black tesla, would the vehicle details have been so relevant.

    • “Following an attack on a pro-Ukrainian protester, Boikov was charged with assault and his passport was cancelled. Prior to being arrested he hid in the Russian consulate in Sydney, Australia, and was convicted of assault in absentia. He was later granted Russian citizenship in an order signed by Vladimir Putin. As of November 2025, he remains in the Russian consulate in Australia.”

Wikipedia so take some of this with a pinch of salt. This poor man was endlessly persecuted by Australia’s so called democratic government, for asking hard questions and not giving up. Thank God for those lovely hate speech laws, eh Labor? No more complaining in future or else!

  2. This is what happens when you take away pressure release mechanisms like free speech/expression. I don’t support this but I predict its only going to get worse anyway. Government that doesn’t care or listen, that uses authoritarianism to silence people, what’s left to get rid of the pent up frustration and anger? Just look at dystopian Europe and UK. Does Australia think its immune?

  3. Heather DPA on 1ZB reports that the family of the attacker said they are devastated by the attack on a family friend of 20 years. Hmmm, sounds a bit personal to me, though I have to agree with many of the sentiments above.
