Retired Nelson GP Caroline Wheeler has been censured after a long Medical Council case concerning prescribing ivermectin during the so-called Covid pandemic.
While the drug was never banned in New Zealand, it sat outside official guidance for treatment. In November 2021, Wheeler gave one patient a prescription for the antiparasitic to use if he later caught Covid.
He did so in July 2022 and was later hospitalised with seizures. A hospital doctor’s complaint led to an investigation that showed she had prescribed ivermectin to 16 other patients. The Tribunal found professional misconduct, and said Wheeler failed to follow accepted guidance or properly record consent.
Wheeler said she was trying to help people seeking options in a chaotic time. More than 100 former patients packed the hearing in her support.

As for Ivermectin, I have used a treatment based on it and it worked where other things did not. In fact, I’d call the results fast and amazing.
This is yet another disgraceful chapter in this nations history. People will look back at the witch hunt decent medical professionals and others were subjected to, with deep dismay.

Ardern and co knowingly put hundreds of teenagers lives at risk, zero, nada consequences. Yet this doctor prescribed something that helped and got shafted.

Ivermectin – banned because it worked. But banned only in western countries.
Many other countries used it.
African countries especially used Artemesia Annua commonly known as Sweet Annie in a regular weekly drink to help against malaria. A relation of Sweet Annie grows freely in New Zealand – Artemisia Absinthium – commonly known as wormwood. Just take some clippings, hang until dry, and crumble a good teaspoonful of the leaves into a cup to make tea. A pretty shrub, easy to grow from slips.
N.B. Anything which works against internal parasites seems to be the go to.

People were taking ivermectin when caught up in the covid hysteria before they found out the whole thing was a fabrication and fraud and that there was no virus so there was no need
Exactly. Don’t take medications if you’re not sick, and even if you are a healthy body will probably cure itself as quickly as a week-long prescription of antibiotics etc if you take care of yourself and eat well.
Personally I gargle daily with salt water and povidone iodine (started a long time before COn-of-the-century-VID), and very rarely get colds or flus, I had the flu when I was about 20 and haven’t had it since – I’m in my very late 50’s now.
A good gargle will kill the germs which accumulate at the back of the mouth and nasal passage before they venture further into the body. It’s cheap and no prescription is needed.

In 2015, the Nobel Committee for Physiology or Medicine, in its only award for treatments of infectious diseases since six decades prior, honoured the discovery of ivermectin (IVM), a multifaceted drug deployed against some of the world’s most devastating tropical diseases. Since March 2020, when IVM was first used against a new global scourge, COVID-19, more than 20 randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have tracked such inpatient and outpatient treatments. Six of seven meta-analyses of IVM treatment RCTs reporting in 2021 found notable reductions in COVID-19 fatalities, with a mean 31% relative risk of mortality vs. controls. During mass IVM treatments in Peru, excess deaths fell by a mean of 74% over 30 days in its ten states with the most extensive treatments. Reductions in deaths correlated with the extent of IVM distributions in all 25 states with p < 0.002. Sharp reductions in morbidity using IVM were also observed in two animal models, of SARS-CoV-2 and a related betacoronavirus. The indicated biological mechanism of IVM, competitive binding with SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, is likely non-epitope specific, possibly yielding full efficacy against emerging viral mutant strains.
