Bombs rock Damascus during Macron visit (Video)

The blasts occurred near the French president’s hotel minutes after his convoy departed, wounding at least 18 people.

Two bombs exploded near the hotel in Damascus where French President Emmanuel Macron was staying on Tuesday (local time). Macron’s office said he was unaware of the blasts and met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa as scheduled.

At least 18 people, including four police officers, were wounded, local media reported, citing the Syrian Interior Ministry. The blasts hit a busy area between the Tourism Ministry and the National Museum, across the street from the Four Seasons hotel where Macron was holding talks with civil society groups.

Macron is making the first visit by an EU head of state to Damascus since jihadist leader al-Sharaa ousted President Bashar Assad and seized control of Syria in December 2024.

The Syrian authorities said Macron’s convoy left the hotel minutes before the explosions, heading to the presidential palace for talks with al-Sharaa.

A Syrian security source later said the explosions were caused by improvised explosive devices that were discovered by security personnel and detonated as bomb disposal teams attempted to defuse them. One device was planted inside a parked car near the hotel, while the other, which was hidden in a roadside trash bin, exploded next to an ambulance where dozens of people had gathered a few meters away.

The Interior Ministry said the blasts occurred outside the security perimeter established for the French president’s visit and posed no direct threat to Macron or his delegation. It added that no group immediately claimed responsibility.

The Elysee Palace confirmed that Macron was on his way to meet with al-Sharaa when the explosions occurred and did not hear the blasts, adding that no changes were made to the French president’s schedule.

Images released later show Macron standing with al-Sharaa and greeting other Syrian officials and military officers.

  1. MI-5 & the Mossad? CIA-orchestrated perhaps?
Such criminal, genocidal war crime entities are sending macron a message perhaps?
In the meantime, Israel under Noahide Law and Talmudic tradition continues to violate ‘ceasefires’ and murders / genocides with impunity…for the cause of …’Greater Israel’..!

  2. Images released later show Macron kneeling and blowing off al-Sharaa and winking at other Syrian officials and military officers.
