There were three reported beach tragedies across New Zealand on Boxing Day.
In Wellington, a woman died at Kapiti Beach. The incident was reported to police around 1.30pm, and has been referred to the coroner.
A man died at Kariotahi Beach, south west of Auckland, around 2pm. Police enquiries are ongoing.
The third accident took place at Waiwera Beach, north of Auckland where one person died and another was taken to hospital just after 4pm. Police enquiries are also ongoing.
