Brown removes Medical Council bigwigs over ‘ideological agenda’

Health Minister Simeon Brown has ousted Medical Council Chair Dr Rachelle Love, Deputy Chair Simon Watt and CEO Joan Simeon, accusing them of pushing an “ideological agenda”.

The measures Brown took issue with include making doctors examine their own biases and privilege, weaving Treaty obligations into medical regulation, requiring doctors to acknowledge how the health system disadvantages Maori patients, and setting targets for Maori representation in the medical workforce.

  1. These people are the Bolsheviks in our country. They have infested so many of the health councils and other agencies.

  2. So nothing done about doctors being persecuted for questioning the COVID/jab narrative then? You can see its election year, can’t you. Token gesture-ism.

  3. The Medical Council issued things they are required to do, it’s spelt out in legislation. The Minister should have known that they were just complying with the legislation made by…yep, the same people now criticising and ousting them. If they didn’t want the Council issuing this information then that should have been removed from the legislation.
