Police investigating an assault in central Auckland earlier this year are appealing to the public for information.

Auckland City Police were called to Te Komititanga Square, Queen Street at around 3.20am on 22 March, following a disorder involving several people.

Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend, Auckland Central Area Investigations Manager, says two people were assaulted and received serious injuries.

“Police believe several witnesses captured the assault on their cell phones and are appealing for information which can aid our investigation.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has footage of the incident.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Friend says the investigation team has set up a dedicated portal for receiving photos and videos.

Witnesses with footage of the assault can anonymously upload it here.

Anyone with information that can assist the police investigation is urged to contact Police through 105 online or by phone, referencing file number 260322/6901.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
