Police have laid a murder charge following the death of woman in Massey, West Auckland last weekend.
Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie says: “Officers responded to an address on Chorley Road around 12:50am on Sunday 9 June, and found a woman deceased at the residential property.”
A homicide investigation was launched and a 43-year-old man was taken into custody today (Tuesday).
“A scene examination commenced today and will continue into tomorrow, with further enquiries continuing as we piece together what occurred,” DSS Goldie says.
A post-mortem examination has been completed.
The man charged with murder, who is known to the victim, is scheduled to appear in the Waitākere District Court tomorrow, Wednesday 12 June.
“Police would like to extend our condolences to the woman’s family at this extremely difficult time.“
