Senior political figures from China and Taiwan met in Beijing for rare high-level talks aimed at improving cross-Strait relations, with Xi Jinping hosting opposition leader Cheng Li-wun during a landmark visit by Taiwan’s Kuomintang (KMT) party.

The meeting, the first of its kind in nealry a decade, focused heavily on themes of shared identity, peace, and cooperation, with both sides emphasising the importance of stability and stronger ties across the Taiwan Strait. Xi outlined proposals to deepen engagement through cultural, economic, and social integration, while reaffirming the “one China” principle in the 1992 Consensus as central to future relations.

Cheng echoed calls for peaceful development and increased cooperation, highlighting growing support within Taiwan for stability and dialogue. Both sides reaffirmed the 1992 Consensus as the political foundation for engagement, while stressing opposition to Taiwan independence, with the talks seen as a significant step toward reviving cross-Strait communication and reducing tensions.

The 1992 Consensus is an understanding between China and Taiwan that there is “one China,” though each side may interpret what that means differently. It serves as the political foundation for dialogue and cooperation between Beijing and Taipei, allowing engagement without resolving sovereignty disputes.

  1. I’m very happy to hear that these guys are getting together to sort out their differences and put in place a workable solution that everyone benefits.

This makes both the Chinese and Taiwanese leaders, true statesmen.

If this comes together, the loosers will be the western influencers who dominate most of the International financial system and control trade including oil transactions and the petrol dollar.

  2. Contrast China’s mature approach to these kinds of issues with that of the lunatics, pedos and clowns in the White House Epstein Regime.

    • Cope harder, that is pure bull****! The KMT is the party of Kai-shek himself, the anti CCP freedom fighter and founder of modern Taiwan seperatism.
