China protests Peters’ remarks

China has formally complained to New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade after Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters told Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan to “go back to your own country” during a heated parliamentary debate.

The Chinese Embassy said it had made formal representations, urging New Zealand to protect the rights of the Chinese community and foster an inclusive environment while warning against actions that could harm bilateral relations.

Peters has refused to retract his comments, saying they were intended to defend New Zealand’s democratic values, while Xu-Nan accused him of repeated “racist behaviour” and called on Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to take action.

  1. Oh boy are the commies gunning for NZFirst!
A Chinese man calling a Maori minister a racist? In New Zealand? Really?
How many Maori or Europeans sitting in China’s governing seats? None? No ‘inclusive environment’ in China?
What a pack of sanctimonious hypocrites.
When the Chinese government is as diverse as that in New Zealand, then stand up on your hind legs and call us racist!
If anything, this should mean the end of this Xu-Nan’s attempt at a political career.

  2. Words like defend our ‘democratic values’ like ‘free trade agreement’ like ‘international rules-based order’ like new world order is the forked ‘tongue language’ used by the few to control the many.
