Climate scientist named Kiwibank New Zealander of the year

Climate scientist Dr. Jim Salinger has been named the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year.

Salinger, described by State media outlet RNZ as one of the pioneering figures in the study of global warming, has been at the forefront of climate research since the early days of the field.

  • 2024 Ryman Healthcare Senior New Zealander of the Year – Bob Francis NZM QSO MBE JP (Wellington) for his services to the community.

  1. The climate change is indicated because temperature sensors are also placed in the middle of large cities. Large cities are of course concrete and glass heat traps. When data from sensors in cities is removed then no climate change is indicated.

    The biggest effect upon climate is the sun and that provides the natural variations over time.

  2. This is embarrassing! Jim Salinger was very publicly and noisily fired by NIWA (the Government’s official climate adviser) for unacceptable behaviour and his unsuccessful appeal then generated news stories for a period of 8 months.

    Rejected by NIWA climate scientists, he is now selected by an ill-informed banker as a great climate science guru.!
