Christchurch police confirm a homicide investigation is underway into the fatal shooting of 16 year old Burnside High School student Connor Whitehead.
A scene examination is underway.
Police were called to a shooting incident near the Heaphy Reserve (pictured) in Casebrook, Christchurch just after 11pm last night and found Whitehead deceased.
Police are appealing for anyone who can assist with the investigation to contact them immediately.
