New Zealand entertainer Dame Jools Topp has died at the age of 68 after a long battle with breast cancer, prompting tributes from across the country.
Best known as one half of the iconic Topp Twins alongside her sister Dame Lynda Topp, Jools was celebrated for her comedy, music and activism, with the duo becoming household names through decades of live performances and television shows.
Family members told state media she died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones and pets.
Dame Jools Topp was a New Zealand icon – she brought laughter and music into our homes for decades.
She lived a life of purpose, she made the country a happier place, and she leaves a legacy of humour, warmth, and joy that will endure.

In 2018, I was really lucky to get to speak with Jools Topp, when she became a Dame in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
She said to me that “the rebels finally got their medals”.
A true legend, and will be sorely missed. pic.twitter.com/eeOf7VHVxr
