Newly revealed dashcam footage has shown the extraordinary bravery of a Bondi Beach couple who were killed while attempting to stop one of the attackers during Sunday’s mass shooting.
Boris Gurman, 69, and his wife Sofia, 61, intervened in the opening moments of the attack, trying to disarm one of the gunmen to protect others, according to their family.
The footage shows Mr Gurman grappling with the attacker, managing to wrench a firearm from him before both men fell onto the road. Mr Gurman then stood up and appeared to strike the suspect with the weapon.
Investigators believe the attacker subsequently obtained another gun, which was used to fatally shoot the couple.
In a statement, the Gurman family said their actions reflected who they were as people — instinctively putting others before themselves. Married for 34 years, the couple were described as devoted family members and well-known, kind-hearted locals. Boris was a retired mechanic known for his generosity, while Sofia worked at Australia Post and was deeply valued by colleagues and neighbours.
Witnesses to the incident have described Mr Gurman as a hero who ran toward danger as shots were already being fired. The couple were the first victims killed in the attack, which claimed at least 15 lives during a Hanukkah event, leaving a community grieving and inspired by their courage.

I would agree with you. BUT that rifle might well have not been loaded yet as the gunman was just getting out of the car.
And I’ve read comments elsewhere saying that the guy who bravely jumped one of the gunmen from behind should have shot him when he got the gun off him. Probably that gun was unloaded too as the gunman had already emptied the magazine.

Australia has strict gun control laws, so apparently the attackers knew they would not face anyone shooting back at them. Australians can thank their politicians for making them helpless in the face of deadly danger.

Why is anyone surprised this attack took place? People all over the world are falling over themselves expressing “shock” and “outage” about the attack.
For me, my first thought was: This is GAZA Retaliation.
Given what the state of Israel has done in the Gaza Strip, it is little surprise to me that such an attack has taken place.
Israel has used fighter jets to drop 2,000 pound bombs on apartment buildings, hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and even private homes, slaughtering over 60,000 men, women and children.
Each atrocity Israel committed was excused. No matter the target, Israel told the world “It was a HAMAS gathering.” Or it was a “Terrorist.” It didn’t matter they blew the arms or legs off little kids. It didn’t matter that babies were killed in their mother’s arms. It didn’t matter when they bombed a tent refugee camp, or that the bombs detonated propane gas cylinders which exploded and burned people to death in the camp. It was all “HAMAS” they said.
Lie after lie after lie. Murder after murder after murder. Israeli Army snipers even spent a few days shooting people standing in line for food. “Mistake” the IDF said. Then they did it again, and again, and again.
The world looked the other way and has done almost nothing to confront or stop the slaughter.

It is no surprise to me, at all, that this attack took place on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. In fact, the only surprise to me is that something like this hasn’t happened sooner, or more often, in more places.
