A state of emergency has been declared in Dunedin as heavy rain continues to batter the region, with a severe weather warning in place for North Otago, Dunedin, and coastal Clutha until 9 pm Friday.
Weather and warning updates are available at MetService.com.
Overnight, around 100 residents were evacuated from their homes, with emergency shelters set up at St Clair Golf Club and Forsyth Barr Stadium. By early Friday, the golf club was already housing 50 evacuees.
At least 18 roads have been closed across Dunedin due to widespread flooding and landslides, with further closures in the Clutha District. Major routes, including State Highway 90 and State Highway 87, have been impacted.
An additional 70 to 100 millimeters of rain is forecast, bringing the total rainfall to more than two months’ worth over just three days. Low-lying areas of South Dunedin are under threat, and residents have been advised to evacuate if concerned about rising water levels.
Parts of the Otago Peninsula are experiencing power outages and water shortages due to flooding, slips, and a burst water main, making access difficult. The region remains on high alert as authorities continue to manage the crisis.

These “man made” geoengineered devastating weaponized weather events have been popping off one after the other lately, including within the last ten days, Mexico and America. Being done to back up their “climate change scam” and to drive people out via managed retreat land grab, or the excuse needed for 15 minute city ghettos.
