Logan Park High School in Dunedin has revealed that nearly $365,000 was misappropriated by a single individual between 2019 and 2024.
The discovery was made by an external accountant last year, prompting an investigation and audit, which have now concluded.
The full amount, including legal and accounting costs, has been recovered.
In an email to parents the Board of Trustees assured that new financial safeguards and third-party oversight were implemented in 2024 to prevent future incidents.
The school has remained financially stable throughout, and the Ministry of Education is reviewing the matter, while police have not confirmed involvement.
