Electric bus inferno sparks frantic rescues in Auckland crash

Witnesses described desperate rescue efforts after a violent head-on crash between an electric bus and a car ignited a massive blaze on Tamaki Drive in Auckland’s Parnell last night.

Flames soared several metres high as bystanders tried in vain to douse the inferno and pull victims to safety before firefighters arrived.

One woman was rescued from the car and treated on the ground, while others were taken to hospital—one in serious condition. Fire and Emergency crews faced challenges containing the blaze due to the electric bus’s battery entering “thermal runaway,” requiring sustained cooling efforts.

The road between Ngapipi Road and The Strand remains closed as emergency teams continue their investigation.

  1. Everybody knew it was just a matter of time
    Apparently there are 224 of these monstrosities in Auckland
    Which vary
    Averaging in price from $850,000 to $1,000,000
    MGUY Australia Jew Tube will no doubt be on the case

  2. Did the marketing/sales promotional material mention “thermal runaway on collision” risks for these expensive clean green public transport monstrosities?

  3. While the injured have my sympathy, and those helping out my respect, it’s good to see how real the danger is with EVs. It was only a matter of time before seeing this sort of disaster, and hopefully it will act as a wake up call for every owner of an electric vehicle. Cars, bikes, and scooters. Thermal runaway fires are like volcanic lava, hot, mobile and deadly.

    Get these death traps off our roads now, and wake up to the FACT the whole climate change rhetoric is absolute garbage..!

  4. Lloyds of London and many major Insurance Underwriters are considering NOT insuring EV’s being shipped on the high seas (already 2 car ferries have been lost, starting with one EV fire that later spread to the entire ship, which sunk…)
    and IF you park your EV in your garage, your home may soon be uninsurable due to the fire risk of EV batteries catching fire.
    Solution;
    Scrap the EV inner workings, save the drive motors, and run them off of a generator powered by a petrol air-cooled V-Twin under the bonnet.
    Here’s a similar example, but without the heavy lead-acid batteries..
