Police have confirmed that one person has died following a house fire in Avondale overnight.
Emergency services were notified of the fire on Blockhouse Bay Road just after midnight.
Surrounding residents were evacuated as a precaution and one person was located deceased inside the property.
Police are currently working with Fire and Emergency NZ investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
