FMA chair steps aside as MBIE launches independent investigation

FMA Chair steps aside in wake of MBIE investigation

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has opened an investigation into undisclosed matters involving Financial Markets Authority chair Craig Stobo, who has temporarily stepped down from the role and from all other Crown governance and advisory positions.

Media reports also say he has been stood down from the ministerial advisory group for school property. MBIE, which monitors the FMA, says it cannot comment further until the investigation is complete.

Stobo, who also chairs the Local Government Funding Agency and is a founding director of the Auckland Future Fund, has not yet had the specific allegations or concerns publicly detailed.
