Free Speech Union submits on Phase 2 of Covid-19 Inquiry: Speech rights undermined during pandemic

FSU - COVID Inquiry news

The Government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic compromised speech rights, especially in healthcare, academia, and education.

The Free Speech Union has submitted to the Phase 2 of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCOI) into the Government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic as speech rights are cornerstone to protecting open debate and accountability, says Stephanie Martin, the Free Speech Union’s Stakeholder Relationship Manager.

“We submitted to ensure to ensure the Royal Commission recognises the significant chilling effect that aspects of the Government response had on open debate, professional dissent, and academic freedom in New Zealand. Our concerns include the suppression of dissent, mandates and speech, one-way communication, and behavioural messaging vs. informed dialogue.

“Our professional memberships, such as healthcare professionals, academics, and teachers, enabled us to highlight specific areas where speech rights were directly affected and collate feedback from members of our industry-specific members and Councils. Their stories provide evidence of the ways many professionals were silenced, and sometimes faced severe consequences, for expressing views that differed from the Government’s.

“Members expressed the lasting effects this had on their trust and confidence in Government, professionals, and regulatory bodies such as the Medical Council. This is in line with cases where the Free Speech Union is currently defending the speech rights of healthcare professionals who are under fire from regulatory bodies for expressing certain views online about Covid-19, mandates, and vaccines.

“Suppressing legitimate questions and professional judgments ultimately undermines public trust and weakens democratic institutions.”

  1. A total embarrassment on the submissions this time round, what was I read, 35,000 sent and this time round when it really matters, 7,500. Pathetic and lazy.

  2. Maybe some of those got deleted, diverted or kicked-back for improper filing?
Until the NZ Loyal party gets into Parliament with a majority vote, nothing will change.
    Uniparty Zionist deceptions will continue.
The denials and being ignored will continue from the government(s) of the world until drastic change occurs.
That may not be far away, and it will be very unpleasant for the global population which has woken-up to the lies, deceit and political expediency that has benefited the very few.

  3. As long as the dopey NZ public votes for treacherous, globalist grease bags, nothing will change. As it stands, you have no right to free speech or bodily autonomy and don’t be surprised, if so called hate speech (speech we hate) laws, are only a goose step or two, away.

  4. The New Zealand Medical Council statement around Covid stipulated ….
it is our view that there is no place for anti-vaccination messages in professional health practice.

    Scenario;
If a Doctor tells a patient they are likely medically contraindicated with regard to a vaccination, would this be regarded as an anti-vaccination message in professional health practice? Possibly?

Surely the safeguard would be that Patients are entitled to information that a reasonable consumer, in that consumer’s circumstances, would expect to receive (Right 6, Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights).

Would the Council accept a medical practitioner applying Right 6 of the Code of Rights in advising a patient they may be contraindicated in receipt of the vaccine? One would hope this would be the case but would an already under extreme pressure Medical Professional be prepared to put this to the test in light of the threat of disciplinary action on such a loosely defined statement?

After receipt of the vaccine and an adverse reaction has occurred, where would this leave the Doctor? How does he/she tell the patient they were likely contraindicated due to the vaccine as they now have a lifelong injury? Who will be courageous enough to lodge a claim with ACC and CARM?

Maybe this is a great foundation for a confidential survey of Doctors…
Q1: Did any of your patients receive the Covid vaccine even though you believed they may have been contraindicated prior to receipt?
Q2: Did you discourage your patient from receiving further doses?
Q3: Did you discuss the adverse reaction to the patient?
Q4: Did you lodge a report with CARM and /or ACC?
Q5: Do you believe there is adequate services to provide adequate treatment and monitoring of those patients implicated?

On the balance of probability and in view of the 64800 (Nov 2022) plus reports submitted to CARM (Centre for Adverse Reaction Monitoring) for the Covid vaccine surely by default, every Doctor has needed to face the causal link issues of the Covid vaccine adverse reactions.

Time for freedom of speech in the medical field to be reinstated. Only then can we begin to rebuild trust …

  5. Whatever.

I didn’t gat injected and I never will.

The evil corrupt globalist technocratic ‘elite’ arseholes will never win.

    F*ck em. I will never submit .

    Have a great day 🙂
