Further appeal for information following Whanganui assault

Whanganui Police are continuing to investigate the serious assault that occurred at an Aromoho address on Saturday 2 December 2023.

Police responded to the Paterson Street address shortly before 10pm where a person was located unresponsive following the assault.

The victim remains in a serious but stable condition at Wellington Hospital.

The investigation team has now identified the people who we believe to have been present at the time of the assault.

The focus is now set to speaking to those people identified so Police can establish what led up to the assault, and identify who is responsible.

‘Police would like to thank members of the public who have provided information so far and we ask anyone who has not yet reported information to Police to contact us,’ said Detective Sergeant Carey Priest of Whanganui Police.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was at the address at the time of assault and has not yet spoken to a Detective, or anyone who has information that may assist in our investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police at 105, or online and clicking ‘Update Report’. Quote file number 231203/4869.

Alternatively you can report any information anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
