Gang boss strikes $300k asset deal

Jamie Pink news

Jamie Pink, the 52-year-old leader of the Ngaruawahia-based Tribal Huk gang has agreed to surrender $300,000 to the Crown.

The amount represents a portion of his criminal earnings, which police estimate to exceed $1.6 million. The agreement follows Pink’s conviction for a violent attack and is part of a settlement under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009.

Pink was sentenced in December 2020 to over seven years in prison for an assault on Zion Coker, the gang’s former sergeant-at-arms. This incident marked Pink’s 84th conviction and his 26th for violent crime.

Police have been pursuing Pink’s assets under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act. Three years ago, they seized $322,713 in cash and a 1994 Mitsubishi campervan from him.

After negotiations with the police, Pink agreed in November last year to hand over $300,000. This settlement was recently endorsed by Justice Grant Powell in the High Court at Hamilton.

As part of the settlement, Pink will retain the campervan and the remaining cash amount of $22,713, plus any interest earned but minus any costs.

While Pink acknowledged benefiting from criminal activities, he contested the total amount claimed by the police arguing that the seized assets represented ‘the limit of his ability to pay’.

The High Court’s decision deemed $300,000 as the maximum amount recoverable from Pink under the act, ordering its payment as a “full and final settlement.”

How is that not corruption of both the Police and the High Court? Since when did it become acceptable to bargain with criminals who have admitted benefiting from criminal activity? The whole Justice System has degenerated int a complete basket case with crims obviously calling the shots..

  2. Pinky probably made the $300K back in less than 2 weeks…
    BAWLAWHAWHAWHAW….LMAO!!!
Besides, most of the judges and top cops are related to gang members anyway via brothers, cousins, parents, …you can see the exponential result of gang membership reaching 172,000 members, and it having an effect on ‘those in positions of (false) authority!’
The only good spark to that is when NZ is invaded, the gangs will probably set aside / suspend their differences and fight-off the invader(s).
