Gisborne police launch homicide investigation following man’s death

Gisborne Police have begun a homicide investigation after a man died early this morning from severe injuries.

Authorities were alerted around 4:20 a.m. when the man was brought to Gisborne Hospital by ambulance, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that the injuries were inflicted at a residence on Tolerton Avenue in the Elgin area of Gisborne.

Police have established a scene guard at the address, with a heightened presence expected throughout the day as forensic examinations proceed.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, either online or by calling 105, referencing file number 241028/4688.

Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.
