Kiwis are asked to donate money to help the isolated Dartmoor-Waihau community.
The area is still cut-off due to the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle. The community is in particular need of perishables and foodstuffs, fuel and gas, baby needs and personal supplies, cooked meals and a whole lot more.
Access to the location is via helicopter, with supplies being airlifted in. According to Hutch of NZ Freedom Mini Civil Defence were doing ‘an ok job’, but more help was needed. Private groups of citizens were still working with rural communities that continue to be isolated.
The givealittle page for the community has raised $5,220 so far. Donations can be made here.
Additionally, the Esk Valley givealittle page continues to operate, and donations can be made here.
Keep at it guys. Do the right thing and help out. It’s a terrible situation.
