The Secretary for Education has decided to cancel the registration of Gloriavale Christian School, citing alleged persistent non-compliance with private school requirements and unresolved student safety concerns.
The decision follows a second failed Education Review Office (ERO) audit in two years, with the most recent report finding the school was not a physically or emotionally safe environment and did not meet three of eight registration criteria.
Following ‘extensive support’, multiple notices to comply, and extended opportunities to respond, officials concluded there was insufficient evidence the school could achieve compliance.
The cancellation will take effect from 23 January, with the Ministry committing to support students and families to ensure alternative education is in place for term one 2026.
The move comes amid wider scrutiny of the Gloriavale community, including recent criminal sentencing of a former senior leader, and after the Children’s Commissioner publicly called for the school’s urgent closure.

To raise (educate) a child is an activity which belongs within the sphere of the family. The state has no legitimate function within this sphere.
For the state to dictate how parents should raise their children is for the state to act outside of its own sphere of authority, and therefore to act as a tyrant. Such should be resisted in whatever way seems most prudent.
I’d like to know the truth about this. A Christian school is closed but I bet an Islamic school passes everything.
There’s a surprisingly good doco on this place. In my view, they more than had this coming. Frankly I feel it should have happened, a lot sooner.

It just so happens that this has never happened before to any school in NZ, it just happened to this one? hmmmm.
I’m highly suspicious. Generally, when the establishment clamp down on something it’s because it would make the entire house of cards come crashing down, especially when government bodies are now seen as criminal entities who do not work for it’s citizens and in fact couldn’t care less because their puppet masters slot in controllable puppets into parliament and congress. I’m starting to think Gloriavale aren’t anywhere near as bad as what mainstream is telling us when the media lie through their teeth.
Maybe because they don’t pump the kids full of LGBT etc rubbish. Unlike my kids primary school, one of them bought a gay book home from the school library! She had no idea what it was and back it went! Indoctrination 🤬
