Goff sacked as UK High Commissioner over Trump comments

Phil Goff sacking news

Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters has deemed Phil Goff’s position as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom “untenable” following remarks he made about US President Donald Trump.

Speaking at a Chatham House event alongside Finland’s foreign minister, Goff questioned Trump’s understanding of history while referencing Winston Churchill’s 1938 rebuke of Neville Chamberlain.

“I was re-reading Churchill’s speech to the House of Commons in 1938 after the Munich Agreement, and he turned to Chamberlain, he said, ‘You had the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, yet you will have war.’ President Trump has restored the bust of Churchill to the Oval Office. But do you think he really understands history?” he is reported to have said.

A spokesperson for Winston Peters stated that Goff’s comments did not reflect the New Zealand government’s views and were “deeply disappointing.”

The government has since confirmed his removal, with the Foreign Affairs Secretary tasked with overseeing the transition. Goff, a former Labour Party leader and Auckland mayor, had held the role since January 2023.

  1. Oh good one Sir Winston.

As there is more than one fly over there, I would like to tender my CV for the job.

  2. Churchill was a drunken, murdering, globalist, plagiarist who fire bombed civilians and wanted every German dead, while Adolf’s war against the Bolshevik plan to destroy Europe and his endless pleas for peace fell on deaf ears.

  3. Interesting that a man in the best diplomat position doesn’t have the intelligence to know when to keep his mouth shut. Maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised as he is an ex politician. The arrogance of the lefties.

  4. And now Winnie you stop trying to destroy our relationship with China. We’re broke without them and they are a peace loving people

  5. He is a profession politician . He was on labor side always and that was his first and hopefully this is last kick at politics as he is not a diplomat.
He was following the insane British reteric.
    Good riddance
Hope the door does hit him on the way out , yet on the other hand it may knock some sense into him.

  6. Much ado about nothing. Does Trump even know who Goff is, much less care? Again, dreary little NZ establishment, overstating its own importance.

  7. We need term limit of 3 years and your done in the public appointments.
The free ride these guys get paid to do is just appauling

  8. “Speaking at a Chatham House event” were you Mr Goff?

The Committee of 300 uses a network of roundtable groups, think tanks and secret societies which control the world’s largest financial institutions and governments. The most prominent of these groups include, Chatham House, Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, Ditchley Foundation, Club of Rome, RAND Corporation, PNAC and of course Freemasonry.
Chatham House appears in its true perspective, not as the influence of an autonomous body but as merely one of many instruments in the arsenal of another power. When the influence which the Institute wields is combined with that controlled by the Milner Group (Round Table) in other fields – in education, in administration, in newspapers and periodicals – a really terrifying picture begins to emerge.
    .

  9. Why is Winston and co scared of insulting Trumps’ USA. If Trump can dish it out, Winston shouldn’t be worried about his feelings.

  10. Phil Goff probably needs to realise it’s difficult to fart in public and not be noticed.

Anyways, good riddance to the corrupt cretinous communist twat.
