Former Green MP Golriz Ghahraman faces a fourth shoplifting charge, this time for allegedly stealing a navy cardigan worth $389 from Standard Issue in Newmarket.
The latest charge, reported in state-subsidised media outlet NZ Herald, took place on December 22, adds to previous allegations involving thefts from Scotties Boutique in Ponsonby and Cre8iveworx in Wellington, bringing the total alleged stolen goods to over $10,000.
The latest charge emerged after a complainant came forward in late January.
Ghahraman’s first court appearance was scheduled for today, but has been postponed to address the new charge, with police considering diversion among other legal options early in the process.
Diversion is usually reserved for petty offences. Given then sums involved here, this does not look petty to me. Will so called justice prevail? I know where my bets will be placed.
And isn’t diversion usually reserved for first time offences? Here she seems to have 4 separate offences.
