Labour announced businesswoman Georgie Dansey will contest the seat.

She will go up against former Labour MP Dr. Gaurav Sharma, who is currently standing as an independent but had indicated earlier his intention to start a new ‘Centrist Party.’

The Greens have decided not to field a candidate.

The National Party will select their candidate this weekend, in a three-horse race between Rachel Afeaki-Taumoepeau, Tama Potaka and Frances Hughes.

The Act Party will contest the byelection and will confirm its candidate this week.

Naomi Pocock will run for the Opportunities Party.

DTNZ has contacted the Outdoors & Freedoms Party today for clarification on whether it will stand a candidate.

  1. Five parties contesting, maybe six. All running on their own separate ideological platforms. That includes National and Labour, our two major parties, the representatives of whom we all know work for the WEF and no longer stand for the people or the country of New Zealand. (Is it even still named New Zealand?)
This is in microcosm what will happen at the general election. Split votes all over the place, one of the major parties squeezing in yet again for some reason we can’t identify and unable to govern without a coalition. Then they simply absorb whatever little parties win the race to agree with their policies, all excusing their double dealing with the old excuse ‘once we are in parliament we will change things’ but they never do. Soon they are seatwarmers like the rest, loving the money, power and privilege, and just as impossible to dislodge, transformed overnight into career suckers of the public tit. And we, the rivers of filth, just keep flowing on.

    • Absolutely. I am backing Sharma – he has a proven track record and appeals to such a wide range of people. Smart, articulate, experienced, Doctor, businessman and most of all HONEST.

  2. The fact that National is not standing down points to their desire to wipe Sharma out as much as Liebour wants him out of Parliament. Ultimately The NP and LP serve the same WEF masters, and can’t stand Sharma because he is about to expose people are sick of the legacy parties.
