46-year-old Parminder Singh, an Indian immigrant with New Zealand residency, was a director of a Hawke’s Bay labour hire company at the time of the offending.

Singh has been sentenced to 14 years and two months in prison for raping and exploiting two vulnerable foreign workers.

One victim, a young Vietnamese woman, was manipulated, coerced, and controlled over several weeks after Singh deceived her with false job offers, isolated her, and made her financially dependent.

The second victim, a South American woman, was drugged and raped after Singh spiked her drink.

Singh was found guilty on multiple counts of rape, unlawful sexual connection, stupefying, and worker exploitation under the Immigration Act.

Despite police seeking human trafficking charges, the Solicitor-General declined prosecution.

Singh, who has prior assault and indecent assault convictions, will not be eligible for parole until 2032 and intends to appeal his convictions.

I think he should do his time first and then send him home but we should outsource people like this to a nice cozy prison in the deepest darkest Africa, it would be way cheaper and way more uncomfortable.
