Health bureaucrats declare ‘whooping cough epidemic’

Whooping cough epidemic news

Health New Zealand has declared a whooping cough epidemic, with babies at the highest risk of severe illness, it is claimed.

A nationally coordinated response is now underway after 263 cases were reported in the past four weeks—the highest monthly total for 2024.

Director of Public Health Dr. Nicholas Jones highlighted that the epidemic’s resurgence may be linked to reduced infection exposure during the COVID-19 “pandemic”.

Māori and Pacific infants are expected to be disproportionately affected, with health officials urging “on-time vaccinations” for babies and antenatal immunisations for pregnant mothers to “mitigate the risk”.

Despite high global immunisation rates, epidemics still occur, but timely vaccination can significantly lower the severity of cases, bureaucrats claim.

Dr. Susan Jack of Te Whatu Ora emphasised that the outbreak could last for months or even over a year, describing it as a “marathon, not a sprint.”

Pertussis is said to pose a severe threat to infants, with around 50% of infected babies under 12 months requiring hospitalisation and some cases proving fatal.

Last year three babies died from the infection, although information on their vaccination status is unknown.

Health bureaucrats have stressed the importance of the free and safe antenatal vaccine, given from 16 weeks of pregnancy, alongside routine childhood vaccinations at six weeks, three months, and five months.

Whooping cough, also known as the “100-day cough,” causes severe coughing fits, vomiting, and breathing difficulties, with newborns particularly vulnerable to life-threatening complications.

  1. This is what happens when you substitute “Johnny Come Lately” vaccines for millennia of naturally acquired immunity……many people are now akin to the aliens from “War of the Worlds”….HG Wells knew the score……

  2. I’m not sure
    But one things for sure
I don’t trust Health bureaucrats or so called ‘experts’
Or the diatribe of lies spewed out over the supposed covid plandemic
That continue unabated to this day
Even with a change of government

  3. The latest MSM articles regarding this ‘epidemic’ is recommending vaccination for “Whooping cough.”.

Maybe it would be useful for them to give the full detail of what this includes. The Health NZ website states; It is not possible to separate these out — you cannot have just a whooping cough vaccine.
    But does explain the following;

    “Which vaccine is used”
Protection against whooping cough is given in vaccines that also protect against other diseases.
Babies are given the diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hep B, and hib vaccine.
4 year olds are given the diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, and polio vaccine.
Everyone aged 11 and over are given the tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough vaccine (Boostrix).

Now, surely it is better to be aware (as part of the informed consent process ) of the important details relative to what you “will be “receiving?

  4. Pardon me Te Whatu Ora, if I don’t believe a single word you say.

Stick your big pharma toxins where the sun don’t shine.

I have 3 kids in 3 different schools in the most populous part of the country and haven’t heard of a single case.

    You’re lying. Try harder.

  5. Another obvious marketing campaign from the ‘safe and effective ‘ jab manufacturers.

We all know how this works.

Invent a ‘problem’ and then provide the solution.

  6. A suggestion: Inject the bureaucrats first.

Let’s see how they get on over the next 10 years versus the non-injected.

    We already know the answer.
