HHS launches initiative to advance vaccine injury research and care

The US Department of Health and Human Services has unveiled an effort to improve identification, investigation and response to reported vaccine-related health issues.

Key steps included: opening an NIH clinic for specialised patient evaluation and research, proposing reimbursements for physicians filing VAERS reports, requiring electronic health records to capture adverse events and modernising VAERS for more effective reporting.

HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr framed the initiative as a way to listen to affected patients and families, follow the evidence, enhance vaccine safety and rebuild trust in public health institutions.
