A homicide investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Mairehau, Christchurch, on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to an address on Innes Road at around 9:15pm, where they found the man with critical injuries. Despite urgent medical treatment, he died at the scene.
Police investigators remain in the area today as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A scene guard is in place, and the community may notice an increased police presence as inquiries continue.
Police have already spoken to several people who were in the area at the time but are seeking additional witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious between 8pm and 9:15pm on Sunday, March 9.
