Hundreds arrested in immigration raid at U.S. Hyundai factory

Almost 500 people, including around 300 Korean nationals, were detained in a massive immigration raid at Hyundai’s electric vehicle factory in Georgia, marking the largest workplace enforcement action of President Donald Trump’s second term.

The Department of Homeland Security said the raid followed a multi-month criminal investigation into alleged unlawful employment practices, stressing it was not a random round-up but a targeted operation with a judicial warrant.

South Korea expressed “concern and regret,” dispatching diplomats and urging the US to protect the rights of its citizens.

Hyundai stated none of the detainees were directly employed by the company, and production at the sprawling 3,000-acre site was unaffected, though its partner LG Energy Solutions paused construction.

The raid highlights tensions between Trump’s twin priorities of boosting US manufacturing and cracking down on illegal immigration, with potential diplomatic fallout for the US-South Korea alliance.

  1. I had a LOT of problems with Hyundai in the US when I lived there for a while.
Especially the finance department which I sued for aggressive and threatening tactics when a co-signer died and I was never notified of the death, leaving the car payments to go overdue.
I formation was with-held fropm me over the death of the signer by design thru third parties, in the attempt to ruin my credit rating.
Had my credit rating restored via judgement entry, and was awarded the cost of the car, attorney fees and court costs.
The car was trashed by the other signer, a , so much so that it had to be junked after only 6 months of being new.
