Immigration New Zealand is ‘Faafed’ – ACT

Immigration visa news

“Incompetent bureaucracy and a failure of leadership from the Minister means that we have to wait another two months before we can open up to the rest of the world,” says ACT’s Immigration spokesperson Dr James McDowall.

“The Government closed our borders because of public health, now they won’t open them because of processing delays. Critically, today’s expected announcement has been misrepresented. The border won’t be open from July, it will be open for applications.

“With Immigration New Zealand’s processing times, who knows when the border will actually be open?

“Immigration New Zealand has had two years with closed borders. Any dynamic organisation, with good governance from its Minister would have used that time to clear its backlog and upgrade its systems. Unfortunately, after two years of COVID, the backlogs are still there and the clunky systems are still there.

“Professor Michael Baker this morning said bringing the full border reopening forward to July would have minimal impact on case numbers or preventing new variants, by the same logic there’s no public health rationale to not open the borders fully now.

“The Government will try its best to spin out of this with it’s weird mix of strained and soothing tones. Nothing will be the Government’s fault if we buy their line. But the reality is this, The border has been shut for two years and Immigration New Zealand is further behind than ever. It is total incompetence and a failure of leadership.

“The Minister of Immigration should be explaining how on earth he expects to stay in the job and what his plan is to fix the situation so visas can be issues sooner.

“ACT says we truly need to move on from COVID fear and really reconnect with the rest of the world.”

  1. Well Jabcinda’a ministers were not selected based on their experience, qualification and other merits.

Gender-colour politics is ripe in US for many years and imported here by Jabcinda, who claimed the Welligton protest as “imported” but not BLM black washing or Climate green washing which are 100% imported to NZ.

If we have an autocrat & hypocrite blended into one as the PM, what else can we expect?

  2. Act should do a motion of no confidence in the PM and entire government. Never in history has such incompetence been in control – and there is decent competition from around the world. The Bill of Rights should be enshrined in law and media independence also enshrined in law with no ability to rely on government money. The absolute garbage peddled in MSM is frankly astonishing. How can government fail so comprehensively and yet the media still support them. Astonishing.
Going back home is becoming increasingly appealing. At this point Boris looks like a better optio . The fact I’m saying this shows just what I think of this government, and the totalitarian Marxists that are running the joint.

  3. In 2020 Kris Faafoi was voted out by the people. But the Labour party had him high enough on the list. He is only a list MP, yet they made him the minister of justice. The people of NZ can’t even vote an MP out any more. If you thought a housing price crash was a great idea, well, think again. For example bank will not lead money. People you bought recently have lost all equity and are going to the wall. NZ is loosing population by the planeload. We need immigration to stabilise the housing, business and finance markets.

  4. A new airline is starting in nz, it’s called EMIGRATE AIR.focusing on emigrating kiwis it will replace bankrupt air New Zealand

  5. My partner has a PR she applied for citizenship before covid, we just heard her application will be looked at in November,,,,,,,

  6. Farfoy should be subjected to a job rotation scheme. He’s done so little and turned procrastination into an art form. What he has done has made such little difference. His new job could be tea lady and this country would be way better off on his reduced salary.
