NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet announced an increased in COVID restrictions for the state.
The measures were introduced in response to a record 5,715 cases recorded via the unreliable PCR test method.
- Mandatory mask-wearing in indoor settings effective midnight 24 December to 27 January 2022.
- One person per 2 square metres in hospitality venues, effective from 27 December to 27 January 2022.
- 80% of all new cases were the Omricon variant.
- Around 1,500 health care workers cannot work due to illness or inability to undergo COVID testing.
