Investigation opened into Ruakākā deaths – update, double-homicide

Northland Police are in attendance at a sudden death incident at a property in Ruakākā this morning.

‘Sadly, we can confirm two people have been located deceased at an address on Peter Snell Drive,’ said Detective Inspector Bridget Doell, Northland CIB.

‘Our investigation is still in the early stages and we are currently speaking with a person as part of enquiries.

‘News of this incident will come as a shock to the community, and we can reassure them we are not currently seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.

‘There will be an increased Police presence in the area, and we will provide further updates as our investigation progresses.’

Update @ 12.09pm – Homicide investigation launched in Ruakākā

Northland Police have launched a double homicide investigation in Ruakākā this morning.

‘Our investigation is still in the early stages and we are currently speaking with a person as part of our enquiries.

‘We will continue to support the Ruakākā community through this understandably distressing time.

‘While we appreciate the wider interest in what has occurred, Police aren’t in a position to release any further details at this stage.

‘There will be an increased Police presence in the area, and we will provide further updates as our investigation progresses.

‘We continue to encourage the Northland community to look out for one another, and if anyone requires further assistance there are a number of support agencies available.

‘While we are speaking with a person of interest, Police are interested in hearing from anyone in the area at the time who can assist with the investigation.’

  1. Two babies aged one and four. How they must have suffered long before the perpetrator finally killed them. Cruelty like this doesn’t just pop out when the sadist has a bad day. It finally ends up in deliberate murder. Again and again this happens in this horrid little country. Put your teddy bears and balloons and flowers down people, and in three days forget all about it. And nothing is done. Nothing will ever be done.
