Iran confirms intelligence chief killed as Qatar gas hub hit by fire

Iran has stepped up missile attacks on Israel, targeting Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport after confirming the deaths of Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, senior security figure Ali Larijani, and Gholamreza Soleimani in joint US-Israeli strikes.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s political leadership remained intact despite the loss of senior figures, while Israeli emergency authorities reported two people in their 70s were killed in a missile strike on Ramat Gan.

At the same time, conflict has spread deeper into the Gulf, with drone strikes triggering a major fire at Ras Laffan Industrial City, where QatarEnergy said extensive damage had been inflicted at the world’s largest LNG export hub, though casualty figures remain unclear.

The widening confrontation has added further pressure to energy markets, with oil prices holding above US$100 a barrel.

  1. If this continues the negative costs to the US economy will only grow over time, as will injuries and death. Not necessarily just military personnel either but also US citizens, who end up being targeted all over the world.

Lets hope they see sense and impeach this administration. I would say Australia also needs a new government. Sending troops to support this war of aggression, paints a target on Australian’s too.

  2. Idiot Trump gloated about bombing Kharg Island then said they might hit it again just for fun. The very funny consequence is to drive oil prices even higher than their current levels rather than stabilize them. Why? It makes legitimate targets of all of the other Persian Gulf and Saudi oil installations. The western objective appears simple: if the west can’t control and profit from that oil and gas in the region, then nobody else will. The unipolar world order wants to deny resources to the multipolar world order and this war is an obvious contest between these two orders.
