Iran has rejected reports that it received an invitation to join the newly established Mecca defense pact between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, although Tehran confirmed that broader regional security discussions with the three countries have been proposed.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that no formal membership invitation had reached Tehran, contradicting an earlier claim by the head of the Iranian parliament’s Khaneh Mellat news agency that the government was considering an offer to join.
Signed on August 7, the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement treats an armed attack against any member as an attack against all three and provides for greater military coordination, joint exercises and defense-industry cooperation.
The founding states have indicated that membership could eventually expand, with Egypt publicly discussed as a possible addition and Pakistan saying it would not oppose Iranian participation.
Tehran has previously said it has “no reason for concern” about the alliance, viewing it as evidence of regional governments seeking their own security arrangements. The combination of Türkiye’s substantial military capabilities, Saudi Arabia’s financial and political influence and Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal has prompted some observers to label the grouping an “Islamic NATO”, although analysts caution that it is not yet comparable to a fully developed military alliance.
Israel has expressed concern that the emerging partnership could challenge its strategic position in the region, while the pact’s members maintain that the agreement is defensive, open to additional regional states and not aimed at any particular country.

Israel and its co conspirators in the West, by attacking Iran, participating in ethnic cleansing in Gaza and acts of slaughter in Lebanon, have sent a clear message to Middle Eastern states that they need to unify to defend themselves. I hope this alliance does include Egypt and Iran. Boxing in the ugly little rogue state of Israel and boxing out its cronies like the USA and UK, can only be a good thing for humanity.
The reason why any such countries got together for such a combined defence pact – is because the USA has been well-and-truly defeated by Iran with clear ongoing consequences of that defeat clearly unexpected by the USA and their globalist controllers.
The logical consequence of any overwhelming victory is that the any victors get stronger with increasing geopolitical influence.
