Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has pledged to rebuild the country’s damaged nuclear facilities following coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel earlier this year.
The attacks in June 2025 targeted Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan sites, which Western powers claimed were advancing toward weapons capability.
Pezeshkian dismissed the accusation, reiterating that Iran’s nuclear programme is entirely peaceful and focused on civilian uses such as medicine, agriculture, and energy.
“Destroying buildings will not stop us – our knowledge is in the minds of our scientists,” he said.
The strikes, which Tehran condemned as violations of sovereignty, have derailed efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, with Iran now restricting Western monitoring.
Meanwhile, Atomic Energy Organization chief Mohammad Eslami announced plans to construct eight new nuclear power plants with Russian cooperation, aiming to produce 20,000 megawatts of power by 2041.
