Jury finds Adrian Phillips guilty of the murder of Bayden Williams

Adrian Phillips news

In the Hamilton High Court today, Adrian Reginald George Phillips was found guilty of murdering father-of-one Bayden Williams.

On 5 August 2020 Phillips rammed Williams’ car off a road near Thames, then shot him three times.

Phillips, 24, raised self-defence, claiming Willliams lunged at him, believing he had a knife and made threats to kill him. This was rejected by the jury.

Phillips has purchased the murder weapon, a sawn-off shotgun, and the ammunition in the weeks before the murder.

After ramming Williams’ car off the road, he first shot him in the leg. As Williams crouched in pain by his car, Phillips fired the second bullet into his shoulder. He then shot Williams in the head with the third bullet.
