State housing agency Kāinga Ora is scrapping 212 housing projects that would have delivered nearly 3,500 homes and selling off 36 hectares of vacant land as part of a “financial reset” ordered by Housing Minister Chris Bishop.
The agency’s CEO Matt Crockett said the reset, which includes writing down up to $220 million, aims to refocus Kāinga Ora as a landlord rather than a developer.
The decision followed a review of over 460 projects, with those deemed financially unviable or poorly located being abandoned.
While 254 projects will continue, delivering over 1,800 homes, the agency hopes the changes will restore financial sustainability after recent job cuts and a shift in direction.
And get rid of that fake te reo name and back to calling it State Housing.
Where is the accountability of wasting $220 million?
Where did that money go?
What was it for?
Where are assets now?
Who signed on those contracts?
Who was paid?
And who is still given any position to squander away more tax-payer money?
WE work for it, WE want to know!
Or do we live in a parasitic bureaucracy of freeloaders?
Shall we see what government does?
Oh shit, it’s the same club and part of the problem!
Disgusting! HNZ have been ripping NZers off for years with their inefficiencies! MHUD are another waste of taxpayers dollars – the people to end homelessness… Great tui ad right there 🤬
Exactly MHUD paid $8 million dollars for a piece of land worth $1.5 million tops. Look it up:
31 Ngongotaha Road
Now look up the developer watchman residential on the companies website who seems to have some sort of special relationship considering MHUD owns the land. How was this developer chosen to be the ‘special’ one? The developer has multiple other companies that are now in receivership/liquidation yet they are still pushing on with this project. The land is full,of arsenic and cadmium and next to a stream that floods. The land is unstable due to sludge but STILL a they want to put houses there. Utter madness.
Another of this developers housing developments in town mountview green has gone into liquidation with some houses completed but still empty – supposedly for the private market but NO ONE WNTS THEM. What’s the bet they are social housing before too long. 👎👎👎
Dodgy deals if you ask me and we the feckless taxpayers pay while those at the top enrich themselves. 😡
Thanks for the grass root reporting.

Here you go this should keep you busy for the weekend 🤣 that EPA website alone will keep you inside for days. You will start to get an idea of how this country really works after reading all that. This is when you start to realise we’re actually F*****d as a country with the kind of money that gets thrown at these projects and the sheer amount of lawyers, consultants, unelected bureaucrats with communistic self serving agendas, and rich pricks with no recourse when one of their businesses goes belly up.
This dude was also a director along with Mr Jacobson of a company in receivership – Warkworth holdings👇🏾

And yes I have written to multiple ministers including Chris Bishop. No response.
They are still in the earthworks stage at the Ngongotaha site. Last time I looked the land was still zoned “rural” At present they are taking all the contaminated soil and burying it in an encapsulation cell over which will be a “a neighbourhood park” can you believe that? In light of the latest revelations to cut KO spending, in my opinion works should be immediately halted before we end up with more financial woes and empty cheap semi attached houses with no parking, gardens or garages that few people want to buy. The big concern here is that the Crown owns the land. How irresponsible is it to continue to develop land when another development by the same developer is largely empty and the development is in liquidation?
Furthermore they have just announced 36 more homes will be built for social housing in Frank St which is where the mountview green is so I am picking the govt are going to buy these houses off the developer and make them KO houses. I bet the poor people who purchased a home in this complex will be just stoked about that. I want to know how this Auckland developer came to be favoured so much to do developments here alongside MHUD and KO? What’s so special about this developer? Something stinks.
All New Zealanders should be concerned at the level at which the govt, contractors, consultants and councils have their big oars into housing. Long gone are the days where people buy a section and build their own house because councils have artificially restricted land and controlled what people can do on it. This artificially pushes up land prices so councils can get more rates in order to employ more bureaucrats only interested in creating jobs for themselves.
So yeah wonder not where our tax money goes…….and the biggest insult to hardworking kiwis is that many of these houses go to people too lazy to work, who pump out kids as fast as they can, in order to secure themselves a nice brand new home courtesy of people struggling to pay down their mortgages.
See where we are going?
We must stop this madness.
That’s my 2 cents worth for anyone who cares 🤷♀️
Another New Labour Party hangover
Good to see the punch bowl has been taken away
It was one hell of a party while it lasted
Labour spending like drunken soldiers on shore leave
But that’s what socialists are good at and do
Spending money frivolously with scant disregard to impending consequences
Until its all gone
Socialism the road to communism
With respect you are kidding yourself if you think it’s over. These news releases are performative if you ask me. The corruption marches on. They simply reshape it and take it private. It’s an illusion. We must stop the globalists by taking the power away from the red and blue parties.
