A dispute between an Auckland landlord and her tenants erupted into a fatal confrontation when a man hired to intimidate a couple was stabbed to death in Mt Wellington, a murder trial has heard.

The Crown alleges Finauga Faatoia, 40, entered the tenants’ bedroom armed with a knife to “rough them up” and force them to leave, but was fatally stabbed in the jugular by the male tenant, who feared for his and his partner’s lives.

Prosecutors say the couple then dragged the injured Faatoia outside and continued the attack, stabbing and kicking him until he died, while the woman allegedly encouraged the violence.

The defence claims the killing was self-defence after Faatoia burst in dressed in military gear and threatened to kill them.

The landlord had reportedly enlisted Faatoia—who she promised payment—to evict the couple following ongoing rent and noise disputes. The trial continues.

  1. Justice isn’t about woke ideology or ripping off anyone.

Before we had justice, people had to seek it themselves. You could say not having a proper fair legal justice has its consequences.
