New legislation aimed at preventing “national security risks” during Defence Force industrial action has passed its final reading in Parliament, Defence Minister Judith Collins has announced.
The Defence (Workforce) Amendment Bill gives the Chief of Defence Force greater powers to reorganise staff to ensure the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) can maintain essential operations at all times.
Collins said civilian staff are crucial to the NZDF’s day-to-day functioning — from base security to capability testing and aircraft maintenance — but gaps created during strikes have previously exposed vulnerabilities.
She cited last December’s industrial action, which left tasks such as guarding munitions and weapons stores at risk of going unfilled, prompting the Government to fast-track changes.
The new law expands the Minister of Defence’s ability to authorise uniformed personnel to temporarily carry out the duties of striking civilian staff when national security or delivery of core defence outputs may be compromised. The requirement for Parliament to debate internal NZDF redeployment decisions has also been removed, with the Minister instead empowered to set time limits tied directly to the duration of the strike.
Collins said the Bill balances the rights of civilian staff to take industrial action with the need to safeguard the country. It also updates rules for the limited occasions when military personnel are used to backfill roles in other public agencies, extending ministerial authorisations from 14 to 30 days and removing the need to recall Parliament if an authorisation lapses while the House is not sitting.
“In a deteriorating strategic environment, this Bill ensures that our Defence Force is ready and able to protect New Zealand and its interests,” Collins said.
Remember the Air Traffic Controller strike in the 1980’s in the U.S.?
Reagan fired them all, and then hired non-pilots and passed-over former ATC applicants who were probably blacklisted, targeted and had FBI Files despite NOT EVER HAVING COMMITTED A CRIME!
The Civilian Air reserve Technician and Army Reserve Technician programs (ARTS) are civilian employees and they are not allowed to strike due to the critical manning documents that they are listed on.
This is NOT to be confused with ‘Stop-Loss’ which the Active Duty Forces suffered in thelast three U.S. conflicts / wars.

This also means that the Uni-Party in Parliament is getting ready to participate in World War Three in a full capacity.
Why else would they be doing this?
Collins is married to a Chinese…and China is our #2 trading partner.
Why not conduct business instead of conducting war????
Let the other psychopathic nations and their syncopaths kill each other off…
We need ARMED NEUTRALITY and we need it NOW!
And we need to recall ALL of the NZDF from overseas and place them at locations here at home in order to deal with climate-linked disasters (man-made weather weapons directed at NZ…), potential invasions, and upgrading infrastructures.
Only the NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY has a plan to do just that!
