Far-left extremist groups are planning to counter-protest Melbourne’s rally to end mass immigration on 1 November.
The rally is part of the Australia Marches national tour organised by the Australia Lobby Group, with attendees meeting at Flinders Street station at 12 pm.
Speakers will include One Nation Victoria leader Warren Pickering, Please Explain cartoon co-creator and One Nation candidate Mark Nicholson, Family First candidate Moira Deeming, Sam Bamford, host of the 2 Worlds Collide podcast and Lachlan Lade, known as the Dunder Viking.
The counter-protest is being organised by United Against Racism Victoria, who are meeting at the State Library at 11 am. Its speakers include state Greens MP Anasina Gray-Barberio, a member of Free Palestine Coalition Naarm, a member of Hindus for Human Rights and possibly Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe.
A separate far-left extremist group, the High School Anti-Capitalists, has announced they are moving their planned school student strike from Remembrance Day to 12 November following backlash.
They claimed, “This isn’t because we’ve been intimidated by the ridiculous media frenzy surrounding our protest,” but said they feared “authorities in some states using the date as an excuse to block us from marching,” and they “certainly don’t have time to go to court to defend our right to march”.
