Lifelong fraudster stole from Pacific health trust and tried to blame colleague

Nelly Sione news

Nelly Sione, a 52-year-old woman from Christchurch New Zealand with 97 prior convictions, stole more than $8,000 from the Tangata Atumotu Trust while working as a team leader, altering receipts, forging invoices, and even hiring a minibus for personal use under the trust’s name.

Over 11 months she manipulated credit-card transactions, created fake documents, and attempted to shift blame onto an innocent colleague, causing significant stress and costing the trust over $40,000 in audit and legal fees.

Confronted in late 2023, she admitted the offending, but the court condemned her as a “lifelong fraudster,” noting she had deprived vulnerable Pacific communities of essential support.

Sione was sentenced to 12 months’ home detention and ordered to repay $18,153 in reparations.

    • The real ‘garbage’ would be the tangata atumotu whaka trust ’employing’ such ‘garbage’.
Wonder what kick-back was involved. Who got her into that parasite position?
