A man critically injured in an incident in Lower Hutt last month has now sadly died in hospital.
Police were called to Waterloo Road about 2am on Sunday 30 August after a report of a disorder incident.
One person was transported to hospital with critical injuries, and others sustained minor injuries.
“A 45-year-old man presented to Wellington Central Police Station the following day, and was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and striking with intent to cause grievous bodily harm”, said Senior Sergeant Steve Williamson.
“The charge has now been upgraded to manslaughter. He is next due to appear in the Wellington High Court on 9 October.
“We will continue to support the victim’s family at this extremely difficult time.”
