Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving Net Zero, insisting New Zealand remains on course to meet its climate targets despite a stark warning from the ‘Climate Change’ Commission that current policies leave future emissions budgets at serious risk.
While Luxon maintained the country could even reach its Net Zero goal ahead of schedule, the commission said urgent policy changes are needed within the next two years, citing concerns over the Emissions Trading Scheme and the impact of continued fossil fuel investment.
Critics argue the Prime Minister’s determination to pursue Net Zero comes despite mounting questions over the economic costs, controversial science, and the commission’s own assessment that existing measures are insufficient to achieve the required emissions reductions.
“Our view is based on the fact we’re on track to deliver emissions budgets one and two. There’s more work to do for emissions budget three and beyond, and our indications are we’re on track for net zero. We may even do it a few years earlier,” said Luxon.

Heres a clue for you Luxon, Just far to many individual courts, authorities and unaffordable penalties. Only the insurance companies are making profit. Heathy homes are wonderful, Employment courts are a good idea, Tenancy courts are nice to have, but at those levels of penalties have pushed costs that the end user pays the price or private enterprise withdraws or collapse. David Seymour is aware how compliance has made insurance companies kings. Those Insurance companies don’t do a dam thing for the economy. Neither do the lawyers. Bureaucracy has stepped in ripped the nation of its wealth. It has risen to a level that is beyond what was originally intended.
